OK Cuban Sazón, it’s not just OK, it’s just our names, Oscar & Kelli

Our story goes back many years to 2003 when our oldest son developed some allergies that we believed extended from food preservatives, So our mission for cooking became more focused on the quality of the food, not quantity, we wanted the least amount of chemicals in our food simplifying our ingredients to make it easier to try and minimize health issues, but being Cuban born we always ate beans with flavors that came from a package filled with extra preservatives that we did not want anymore so the only way was to make the Sofrito ourselves from scratch that took forever but we had no other choice if we wanted our Cuban beans without preservatives.

Fast forward to 2020 when my Cuban mother comes over for a long weekend with this jar of some Sofrito in her hands that she traditionally always prepared for later use, when Instantly, Kelli’s mind goes racing! She realized her dreams of opening a restaurant had passed but now with this new idea she could introduce her cooking skills and the Cuban Sofrito she’s been so passionate about perfecting it for the last 20 plus years. it’s been created to use on just about anything and would have been the backbone of the restaurant she always wanted. After alerting me of this new idea it was instantly realized by everyone in the house what an incredibly good idea this was and excitement filled our thoughts was instantly generating a feeling way too special to keep to ourselves and now, hopefully, we could transform you kitchen like it’s transformed ours..
